I grew up in North Carolina and always wanted to go "out west". In the military I was stationed in Denver and then south of Tucson so I stayed in the area. I moved to the Black Hills of South Dakota in 1990 with the intention of only staying a few years. Now it's been almost 30 years. It's a beautiful area with easy access to millions of acres of public land. There are lots of whitetail, mule deer, antelope and elk as well as pheasant and grouse. I just wish I could get an elk tag more often.
