Elk hunting in eastern Oregon can present you with a wide range of terrain, weather, temperatures, etc. You can go from t-shirt weather to sub-freezing on the same day. You can be hunting sagebrush flats and then above timberline within just a few miles. My gear list has evolved with experience gained and technology advancements. This is a partial list of gear I use that works for me. Hopefully, you'll find it a good resource as you consider your own gear purchases.

Optics

I chose and continue to use the following gear not based on popularity or status but because each passed my test of whether it gave me a measurable advantage on the mountain. Some are simple and inexpensive and some are not. Price really doesn't get factored into my gear it's more about functionality, durability, and benefit of use. This list is ever-changing just like yours. I'll update as I find things that work better for me.

Bino Harness

I use the Sitka Gear Bino Bivy which unfortunately has been discontinued but is now replaced by the Mountain Optics Harness.

The gear in this section has changed a lot over the years but this is where I'm at currently. Been using the same stuff for the past 5 years or so and don't see anything out there that is making me question these choices.
