Winter Mountain Lion Hunting Gear List
Chasing hounds through the mountains all winter is hard on gear, vehicles, and yourself. Conditions can range from 40 degrees and rain to 0 degrees and windy. Gear has to be versatile and durable.

I have a pair of old Zeiss 10 by 40 that I use to glass for wolves and possibly to find lost dogs.
Backpacks & Gear
I carry as little as possible cat hunting. A firestarter, wool gloves, and a hat. Also, an extra medium-weight shirt and an extra battery for my dog tracking equipment. That's all I carry in my pack.
Camping Equipment
I have a Stone Glacier 15-degree bag and a Klymit pad with a Nemo pillow when I am hunting out of a tent.
I like the NEMO better for the room.
Clothing
Lion hunting clothes have to be able to keep you warm when it gets cold and you're not moving. You also have to be able to walk all day in deep snow and steep country and not overheat.
Baselayers
Duckworth wool is super light but yet keeps you warm when you are wet as good as really heavy wool.

I like these best because they have the best adjustment I have used so you can keep the snow out.

I keep wool gloves and a wool hat in my pack at all times along with a dry wool next to skin shirt

I carry the lightest possible rifle for lion hunting that can shoot 200 yards in case a wolf is spotted
