Glassing is the most important thing we do. Having good glass could be the difference between being successful or unsuccessful. Let your glass do the walking for you. Trust your glass. You can never spend enough time behind it. Never think, there's nothing there I can see it with my naked eye. Always reassure yourself with glassing. If you think, "I should glass this" then you definitely should.
Lightweight and comfort are key for long-distance hikes with a lot of elevation gain. I hunt around a lot of private property on OTC hunts. So I knowing boundaries is a must! Being in the backcountry and staying hydrated is what makes me go a little further than the last guy. I also know that I have to keep my harvest clean and free of dirt, after all, we kill to provide.
So far, this is the most comfortable pack I have ever worn. This back excels with weight in it.

Being prepared for weather changes is crucial. Always plan to stay warm and dry this time of year. A unforeseen storm can move in and out quickly. I hate having big heavy coats in my pack when it gets too hot to wear them. Layers are important to keep you warm and dry and free of odor.
If your hands and feet stay warm, you stay warm.
I am the furthest thing from an Archery Expert. I shoot what feels comfortable.
Just because you can shoot far doesn't mean your bullet has the energy to harvest the animal. Make sure you know your load and only take clean ethical shots.
