Western General Season DIY - Public Lands
As a fly fishing guide, I intentionally hollow out at least 12-20 solid, DIY Western hunting days a year. From Early season archery down to late December jump shooting ducks, our seasons are long, and demand the best of gear. I take me days seriously, sometimes hunting near home, sometimes backpacking into remote areas, and other times, base camping in good areas with solid game habitat. The item I chose I have either owned, own or would hope to own. In the realm of public land hunting, every small advantage helps.

I have to admit, I wear a lot of wool. Not the tech stuff, just good, old fashioned wool. I buy it from retailers and I keep a keen eye out for the hidden gems at thrift shops. Wool is by far the superior stalking outer layer. I can walk thru the densest brush with the least noise, I can mask my movements quietly. I also wear other items when appropriate, and I have listed these as well. I owe it to my dad for having foresight and buying me a filson jacket years ago, before they cost an entire day of guided fishing!
