British Columbia Late Season Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep Hunt

Much like any sheep hunt in any location lightweight gear is essential. However, the late season hunts for Bighorn sheep in British Columbia can be challenging finding that comfort/warmth and not having a 100lbs pack! My gear list might help you find the right tools you need to help you in any late-season mountain hunt where ultralight gear is a must.

Optics

As a guide, I need the best optics available. Just having that little edge at dusk and dawn makes or breaks a hunt at times. I personally use Zeiss and Swarovski. When it comes to tripods, I have gone through close to 20 brands. Finally, I teamed up with outdoorsman- they have the best tripod on the market in my opinion. Using both binos and spotting scope they keep everything stable.

Going up the mountain you want as light as possible, but coming down loaded with gear, meat, cape, and horns you can be well over 100lbs. Find that pack that isn't cumbersome going up and can handle the weight coming down!

Having a good night's rest on the mountain is one of the most important things to keep you going for days on end.

Merino wool, down insulation, and Gortex rain gear keep you alive on the mountain. I have stuck with Kuiu for most of my gear but I am also trying a few other European brands with success.
