Cabin Based Caribou Hunting in Alaska's Brooks Range at Alaska (AK) is a Hunting trip that starts on August until August.
We are hunting Caribou.

Description

These fully-guided, Cabin based, caribou hunts will are 1x1 or 2x1 spot and stalk trips. Clients will also have an option to shoot a second caribou, Arctic Grizzly and Wolves on a trophy fee basis.

What to Expect

Hunt is based out of our Basecamp in the eastern Brooks Range of the Alaskan Arctic. The camp consists of several trailer buildings and large Quonset Huts. Clients will be eating home cooked meals 3 times per day. Each day, clients and their respective guide will leave base-camp and head out via walking or using one of our various ATVs to local glassing knobs in search of game.

Clients will have access to internet service, showers, deep-freezers to store meat and hides and bedroom accommodations (client can also "spike-out" in a tent if they wish as well with their guide)

Gear & Equipment

Here is the list of items you are definitely going to need:

  • 5000 cubic in backpack
  • waterproof hiking boots at least 10- 12in high
  • skinning knife (we recommend havalon)
  • headlamp (With spare batteries, or charge packs)
  • Dry bags for all clothing
  • half dozen pares of Morino wool socks
  • at least 3 base layer tops and bottoms
  • at least 3 pairs of hunting pants
  • at least 3 moisture-wicking tops
  • down jacket
  • wool base layer gloves
  • waterproof gloves
  • Gaiters (we recommend Kenetrek or Outdoor research)
  • Thermacell
  • Bug Spray -Wool Beanie
  • Baseball Cap
  • Sunglasses
  • Water Bottle with built in Filter (We recommend Grayl or Life-Straw)
  • 32oz water bottle (we recommend Nalgene)

Weapon Details

Rifle: At Least 270 Win or bigger for Caribou. At least 300 win mag or bigger for Grizzly with bonded bullets At least 223 Rem or bigger for wolves Client understands the 1st shot on the Grizzlies will be under 250 yards. (most 1st shots are under 200) Caribou can be shot out to 400 yards if client can perform shot accurately Wolves can be shot out to 400 yards if client can perform shot accurately Client needs to be able to shoot a 3 round base-ball sized group at 200 yards Client needs to know what their bullets do when fired at targets at 300-500 yards as well. (this allows to do secondary shots on fleeing, wounded game)

Bow: At least 60# Draw, must be able to shoot 40 yards accurately (Note: The Arctic can have very windy days, this will greatly effect the ability to archery hunt) Bow-Hunters can also bring a firearm with then to hunt with as well. Bow Hunters most use "Cut-On-Contact" broadheads. Bow Hunters must be able to shoot a 3 arrow base ball sized group at 40 yards to be able to hunt with a bow.

Handgun: Must Be a 44 Magnum or bigger, client must also be able to shoot a 3 round base-ball sized group at 40 yards to be allowed to use the handgun. Client must use bonded bullets.

The clients guide is also allowed to do "back-up shots" on the wounded grizzlies if they see fit, per law.

Client may rent a firearm from the outfitter for the duration of the hunt for $300

Pricing Details

The price is $15,000 per hunter. This includes one bush plane flight in and out of camp, guide wages, camp gear, food, and trophy handling.

50% deposit is due to hold dates Remaining 50% is due 120-days before hunt date start All deposits paid are non-refundable Trophy Fees are due at the end of the hunt, if client does not pay trophy fee all animals harvested on a trophy-fee basis will be retained by the outfitter until payment is made. All additional terms & conditions will be outlined in the hunt contract and liability waiver

Camp/Accommodations

Cabin/Lodge Based Hunts with Showers, Internet, Home-cooked meals, ATVs, and beds

Physical Requirements

Must be able to carry pack up to 35ibs for up to 3 miles per day.
