Gear & Equipment

You will need all necessary hunting gear, safety equipment and weapon you will be using to hunt.

Weapon Details

Rifle Equipment: Centerfire rifles .350 of an inch or larger, shooting straight- walled ammunition with an expanding-type bullet where: Straight-walled, centerfire, rimless cartridges have bullets Those centerfire cartridges that are listed as legal in Iowa's hunting regulations. SHOTGUNS: 10-, 12-, 16-, and 20-gauge shotguns shooting single slugs only. Muzzleloaders: Flintlock or percussion cap muzzleloading rifles or muskets between .44 and .775 caliber shooting single projectiles Muzzleloading pistols .44 caliber or larger with a minimum barrel length of 4 inches and no shoulder stock or long barrel modifications In-line or disk-type muzzleloaders. Handguns: Centerfire handguns .350 of an inch or larger, shooting straight-walled ammunition with an expanding-type bullet. Those centerfire cartridges that are listed as legal in Iowa's hunting regulations.

Pricing Details

Hunters will arrive the day before their hunt after 12:00 pm and leave the day after their last hunt before 12:00 pm.​

Permit & Tag Application Process

Application with Iowa DNR May 3 to June 1, 2025. There are no OTC tags in Iowa.
