Applicants must have already purchased conservation and base hunting license before putting in for any special draw tags. Nonrefundable application fees for Resident hunters are $10 – full license fee is $125. Applicants can also participate in the bonus point system to increase their chances of success in the drawing – bonus points are $20 per species for Nonresidents and $2 for Residents.

The Supertag lottery is an opportunity for the season of a lifetime for eight lucky hunters. According to the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks website:
“SuperTag chances are available for moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goat, antelope, elk, deer, bison and mountain lion. One SuperTag will be drawn for each species. The SuperTag can be used for any hunting district in Montana – including Montana’s legendary trophy districts.”

Contestants must have a current year’s conservation license to purchase SuperTag chances. The cost is $5 per chance and hunters may purchase an unlimited number of entries for the drawing, which is held in mid-July every year. Revenue from the SuperTag sales is used to enhance hunting access and boost FWP enforcement efforts, according to the FWP website.
