Richard Deslauriers is the owner of Alberta Bush Adventures. Richard’s operation offers a wide range of hunting opportunities, including moose, black bear, whitetail deer, predator and waterfowl hunts. Richard has been in the outfitting business for thirty years and is one of very few full-time outfitters in Alberta. For Richard, this isn’t his side-job. It’s his passion and his career.

But this unfortunate circumstance would become the positive turning point in his career. Richard decided to take the fall off to hunt. He enjoyed it so much that he started guiding. This eventually led to owning his own outfitting service. He and his wife Diane now make outfitting their sole livelihood.
Alberta Bush Adventures is located in the boreal forest of northwestern Alberta in a very game rich area. Richard has two different camps, Peace River Camp and Rainbow Lake Camp. Between both camps, Richard boasts a 160% success rate on black bear hunts, meaning clients have a good chance of killing two bears in one trip.

His favorite part of the job is meeting new people from all over the world and sharing stories. Surprisingly, his least favorite part isn’t paperwork or the long hours; it’s setting up tree stands. But despite a few pains, he loves his job because he gets to meet new people, make his own hours, and make his living giving other people a hunt that will become lifelong memory and a story that they will tell for years to come.
