The Ultralight Water Purifier Bottle is a great 16 oz press filtration bottle.
The press filter actively filters the water as you press the filter into the bottle - similar to a coffee press. Other filters often depend upon gravity, or sucking the water through the filter.
Since this is the Ultralight Water Purifier Bottle, you need to screw the cap off to drink. You have to upgrade to the GeoPress to get the RiverFlow™ Spout. and 24 oz capacity. The Ultralight gives you 16oz capacity in a unit that weights 5 oz / 140 g less than their GeoPress, 24 oz capacity. The GeoPress also has a loop for clipping to your gear.
I like using both of these units. I use the Ultralight for less weight, a backup in case I need to refill my day hike water, when I am carrying more water. I use the GeoPress® when I am carrying just a primary water bottle to drink from. I usually fill them with clean water at home. Rather than carrying them dry and filling them by filtering.
The filter is easy to remove - unscrew. So in the winter you can keep the filter on you and warm so it does not freeze.
Since I got these in early 2022, this spring I upgraded both bottles to the Generation 2 filters.
"2nd Generation cartridges first sold in April 2023 that include a new "core" and "flow channel" design (horizontal vents). 1st Generation cartridges are not compatible with the Drink-Mix Valve."
