I bought this pack a couple years ago to use with a tree saddle setup. I have since used it on two elk hunts and the pack has proven to be very versatile. For saddle hunting it works ok, once I load my sticks, saddle, and extra clothing, there isn't much space left in the bag due to the shape of the frame allowing ventilation.
For a daypack in the mountains, it works fantastic. My first trip I was able to easily carry all the gear I needed for the day and had room leftover. I like the back ventilation which helped keep me cool during the warm part of the day. The side pockets and straps held my trekking poles and extra water.
This year my wife used the pack on our recent elk hunt. The pack fit her well and was very comfortable for her. She enjoyed many of the same features already mentioned.
Only drawbacks to this have to do with the shape of the frame that allows for ventilation, but also creates an odd shape to the pack bag and limits space. There are two side straps on each side, but the bottom straps are sewn in place and that makes it harder to attach climbing sticks to the side. Finally, my wife and I noticed there is a squeaking noise when the shoulder straps and belt aren't adjusted correctly.
Overall, this is a solid pack.
