This Fenix HP30R V2.0 is simply the brightest (and longest throw) usable light out there. Other lights advertise high lumen and candela output, but you're not getting a reasonable time to use the light.
There is no step down from Max brightness with all three lamps lit. The beam is perfect for walking dogs at night--a very long beam for picking up coyotes or other problems in the distance, and a wide beam for seeing what is near you.
The beam angle is adjustable vertically and can be positioned perfectly for maximum distance while not sacrificing close up illumination.
The interface is a dual use knob--not cycling through goofy buttons for some odd setting. The dual 21700 batteries keep you lit up for a long time on the trail, and the battery compartment can be positioned on the back of the head or moved down to your belt (or in a pocket inside a coat--or anywhere, for that matter). Plus, the fact that you can replace the 21700s on longer trips instead of some proprietary battery pack is essential--you can run this thing all night if you have enough batteries.
This was truly the perfect light for my usage!
