This is my first and only trail camera. I purchased it solely off of online reviews. I don't have any experience to compare for any value input. What I will say in that regard, I do not think it would take much shopping in a lower price range to find a better value. I'm not disappointed with it. I just feel like it's about average for what's available.
Having said that, I do like this camera. The picture quality does not disappoint and it seems to be very good with battery life.
What I think could be better are physical features. One being the "loops" for the strap to pass through are cracked after just a couple of months strapped to a tree. Not a fan of things that aren't durable. In the end, I'll likely have a completely functional trail camera that I'll have to be creative with to have it mounted in a useful location.
The next issue I see is the latch which allows access to the camera controls and SD card. It's secure and seems durable enough. I can even engage/disengage it with thermal gloves on. That's all good. The one downfall is the very audible "snap" once it's engaged. Again, not a huge issue for many. But any effort to add to stealthiness for me is a positive improvement.
Finally, the SD Card slot. It's located in a spot that is difficult to work with. Wearing gloves or even ungloved cold/numb fingers causes an issue. It can be pushed to unlock/lock just fine. Once you've unlocked it, grabbing the card to remove completely and replace is a challenge. The slot is so close to the edge of the casing and recessed just deep enough that it's tough to remove. That makes it a tedious and frustrating process which contributes to my previous two issues.
-Unstrapping/restrapping it to the tree is a lot of unnecessary fumbling that could be avoided if designed better.
-The noisy latch mechanism is right by the card slot which contributes to rattling during the fumbling.
Photo quality is good though! So far, the camera is great and reliable!
