I picked up a pair of Oasi's after wearing out the soles on another boot and sliding around, falling like an idiot for half a winter. I live in Alaska and frequently work in areas that are more rural, with questionable terrain to say the least, so I wanted a boot that could bridge the gap between a standard duty boot and a mountain boot. I searched high and low spending hours researching different options before landing on these. Comparatively, they are very stiff for a duty boot; a feature that I found enjoy thoroughly. However if you prefer a softer boot, these will definitely feel like ski boots.
Break-in was mostly painless after reconfiguring the lacing to skip the eyelet on the ankle, as this was causing the stiff (new) leather to dig uncomfortably into the outside of my ankle. The part that took the longest to break in was the heel cup, there's not a lot of cushioning back there and I have very bony and pointy heels. After several weeks of light wearing around the office and a few miles on some local trails they are feeling quite comfortable now and never caused any blisters, just hot spots on the backs of my heels.
The soles on the Oasi's are phenomenal; they're very aggressive and very deep. I have no issues walking on icy, slippery, and uneven surfaces whatsoever. The one area I would ding Crispi on is their insoles... For the price the insoles that come standard are pitiful; hardly more than a firmly compressed piece of cheap styrofoam (the annoying white kind that breaks apart into a million little spheres that get everywhere and cling to everything). Those needed replaced immediately!
Aside from the easily replaced compressed garbage they called insoles, I am a big fan of the Oasi's from Crispi, and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a stiff, hearty treaded mountain boot that looks like a standard duty boot.
