Life Saver

I purchased this SMITH Nexus helmet at the beginning of this snowboarding season. I must say after the most recent accident it definitely saved my life. As I write this review, I am barely sitting up in my chair with four broken ribs, and no head trauma due to the performance of this helmet with its MIPS system. Just a few days ago, due to our temperatures rising in the season, coming to an end, the snow is turning more to a slush really unstable surface. Approaching the bottom of the hill, I wound up hitting a very soft spot from which I was unable to obtain any edge on the heel side of my board. As I result, I wound up instantly flipping head over heels right in the middle of the slope hitting with my head first and then my back and my side leading side second. I hit hard enough with my head that of course there was a moment of blackness, a second and then I did also notice stars. I did not go unconscious, and I was able to instantly evaluate what had happened, when I was finally able to get my head up. I was able to get off the slope, and off the mountain under my own power. Once I arrived at the emergency room, I was labeled as a code yellow because of the respiratory distress due to the impact being so violent on my left side. My ribs when they broke actually created abrasions on the outer side of my lungs. I cannot stress enough the importance of not only good gear, but the stylish gear that as SMITH has - don't leave home without it! The trauma surgeons were quite floored when they realized I had no head trauma whatsoever.
