I really enjoy BaseMap because I can work on my early deer season scouting on my laptop through the BaseMap website. The layers provided allow me to change the views from satellite imagery to topographic so I can see through the thick vegetation of a nearby U.S Forest that I hunt. This shows me the lay of the land, as well as possible water holes in the big woods I would not normally see or even know, were there. This gives me an edge in my scouting since I can cut down on numerous hours of walking trails or cross country trying to cut a trail or bump into a feature deer may be using. I can lay the appropriately provided markers from BaseMap on the map where I believe activity or trials may be. I can narrow my search time down to specific areas I want to concentrate my scouting on based on terrain and vegetation. Once I have my laptop-based scouting completed and markers saved it simply transfers to my phone app where I have my downloaded maps saved with my areas of interests marked. Then it is simply a matter of walking those pre-scouted areas to confirm or deny deer activity and whether or not I want to hunt those areas. This app is outstanding.
Whether I use my phone or laptop, the point markers I place transfer seamlessly between the two devices. So if I am out in the scouting I can add new markers and it will populate in my account and I can develop my hunt plan and approach from home or on the road.
