Clear, Bright, Big and Heavy

Steiner's MM750s are very clear and bright for the price, and will out perform roof prism binoculars in this price range. If you need brightness, and carrying a big heavy pair of binos won't cramp your style these are a good option.

I mostly use these to hunt in the Southeastern US in flat terrain, so the weight doesn't bother me. You will have trouble finding a chest harness, but Oregon Pack Works makes one that is big enough. They are perfect for most whitetail hunts since brightness is important in those few minutes around sun rise and sun set, and weight is no issue if you are chilling in a tree stand for half a day. I found the twilight brightness generated by the large 50mm objective and moderate 7x zoom to be adequate. The brightness is good enough for moon lit night time predator hunts if night vision isn't an option for you. I did not notice an appreciable difference in zoom between these and 8x binos, and most folks won't notice much difference between 8x and 10x either.

They are not as clear a $1000 pair of binos, nor should you expect them to be. There is some blurring and chromatic aberration around the edge of the generous field of view, However this is only visible in high contrast situations and in my opinion does not detract from my ability to spot animals. If you zoom in on the photo taken through the lenses you can see a purple "shadow" above the rooflines. That's chromatic aberration. Meaning the colors don't line up just right after being passed through the prisms. This does not appear to occur in the center of the image. If that's a deal breaker for you you need to buy more expensive glass.

I would recommend these if price, brightness, and field of view are important. I would not recommend them if size and weight are more important.

Zooming in on this image taken using my smart phone camera through the right lense of the MM750 will reveal bright clear imagery in the center of the field of view with some blurring and chromatic aberration around the edges. The chromatic aberration is most visible on the roof lines in the form of a blue or purple shadow. If you can't live with that you need to spend more money on your binos.
