I bought this boot (yes it is definitely a boot) to wear for work primarily, which involves walking around in woods/deserts/shoot houses, and mountaineering, usually packing lots of weight. I also purchased it with an upcoming elk hunting trip in south western Colorado in mind.
I was surprised by how light and sturdy they are. My initial impression is that they fit the bill perfectly.
So far I have several miles on the boot mostly hiking in steep hill country. I did develop some hot spots on my heels, and my feet were unusually sore. After switching out the soles using the included sole adjustment kit and putting on some quality hiking socks the hot spots were fixed and my feet did not get as sore. They fit like a dream. I haven't tested them in wet conditions yet, but as of now I highly recommend these boots to anyone wanting a sturdy and lightweight gore-tex boot.
Edit:
I tested the water resistance on a 2 mile hike around the property in a light rain with first lite gaiters. All of the vegitation was wet from the rain all day. After a while i was just about completely soaked except for my feet. The boots held up great. The tops of my sock were a little wet from water running down my leg, but my feet and toes were dry as a bone.
