I picked up my first Fenix light at least a decade ago. It was a PD30 and I thought it was amazing. Fast forward a few years and someone else "found" my PD30, but I've picked up a few more Fenix products, the PD20 and the PD32. Those lights go nearly everywhere with me, but what I lacked was a reliable and bright headlamp. I've always just picked up a cheap headlamp when I needed one, and was disappointed with the results of course. About 6 months ago I saw the HM23 and bit. I knew from previous Fenix products that I would not be disappointed in the quality or light output. I was impressed with every aspect of this light. Three modes mean I've always got the right light output for what I'm doing. I've worked on plumbing under my house, I've burned the midnight oils working on my Jeep, and been on several camping adventures with it. No, it doesn't have a red function, but I don't need it. The low output mode is perfect for close up work and getting things done around camp. Battery life has been phenomenal. I've used it for untold hours and only changed the battery once in the 6 months I've had it. And I use it at least weekly if not more often.
