The Kenai Chest Rig from Gunfighters Inc is as the name implies, a chest-rigged holster as rugged as its Alaskan name. Speaking of Alaska (my home), I searched for over a decade to find something like this chest holster. I've owned at least three others from different makers, and they seemed to function but really didn't fit the bill. I've never owned a Kydex-style holster, and my first reaction after bolstering it brought a smile to my face. The way it fits or should I say worn, is even more desirable. The retention is amazing and can't be fumbled out on accident. It requires deliberate action. Why is this important? A few years back and while on a hike, I had my pistol in a holster. It rode well (in the holster), and up until that day, I had never known its faults. You see, I encountered a hive full of angry hornets. As I dashed away to avoid getting stung, I realized my trusty side-kick was gone and absent from its holster. Luckily, I did recover my firearm, but sometimes life teaches you valuable lessons. In this case, I learned I needed a better holster. Furthermore, the chest positioning is very natural, doesn't get in the way, and fits under my binocular holder. I was concerned it would be blocked and unable to draw, but that was not the case. The adjustability is super simple, even when adding layers of clothing, and I've had ZERO issues with the closures or adjustments. If I were super picky, I'd say it has one flaw, that would only be that the Kydex plastic is a tad noisy, but with my set up, it sits under my bino holder so it rarely gets pinged by sticks or brush. To conclude, this is my go-to piece every time I venture into the bush. It rides perfectly on my chest, and doesn't get hung up, and is not uncomfortable like hip-mounted holsters. As I mentioned, the retention is spot on, and yes, I can jog with this one without worry my piece will fall out or become dislodged. All in all, the Kenai Chest rig is a solid performer and I highly recommend this product for those who venture outdoors for hiking, hunting, fishing, camping, ATVing, horseback… you get it. It will fit ALL your outdoor needs and NOT leave you stranded due to premature retention woes!
To caption this photo, you'll see a KUIU bino holder. Behind this bino holder sits the Kenai chest rig. It does NOT hamper drawing the weapon and it sits very nice. Maybe the two companies should merge their products? 🤔
