The Diamondback HD 10x42 binoculars are the best all around glass I have owned for the price. They feel great in the hands and fit well in the provided glass pack bino harness. The glass is crisp and bright with easy focus knob. The rubber coating provides great grip and quiet body. I live and guide In northern Minnesota. I also hunt elk and pronghorn in Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. I use these binoculars everywhere. I own the Diamondback 12x50 as well for more distant glassing in open country. I have not been nervous to punish these binoculars on the dash of the truck or side by side, crawling over rocks or shooting prone with them on my chest. Knowing there is a VIP warranty and modest price of the glass puts my mind at ease if anything were to happen to the them.
Vortex has great customer service and is responsive to answer all questions. The eye cups have been prone to come off of adjustment while in the bino harness. I would look to upgrade to a Viper or Razor for all day glassing if your hunting western states or open country. The Glasspak bino harness that comes with the binoculars are a good basic harness. The elastic strap of the top cover has a tendency to come unhooked and could let your binoculars fall out when bending over.
