200 plus miles sheep hunting in the brooks range of Alask...

200 plus miles sheep hunting in the brooks range of Alaska and these are the best boots I've had on my feet yet. I'v been guiding sheep hunters for 6 years in AK. I've tried multiple different boots over the years that will remain nameless at this time but these Briksdal SF's have far surpassed them all in just about every category. I was worried they would be too stiff or very uncomfortable....not the case. I wore them on a quick 8'ish mile hike before season to get a feel for them and wasn't sure what to think... These boots do have a slight break in period!!! Get about 10-15 miles on them before you judge them. After the break in period I found myself wanting to wear them all day every day. Pros of these boots are: super comfy, the right amount of insulation, good ankle support, tough sole and rand in the sharp rocks in sheep country, good stiffness for carrying a heavy backpack load, great laces. Some other crispi boots I've had were notorious for coming untied but never had a problem with these yet. Cons...well I don't really have anything bad to say about them other than they aren't the most waterproof boot I've ever used.... Although we had a super super wet year this year and if your feet aren't wet are you really hunting in AK?!?! In all seriousness though they are pretty damn waterproof and with a good set of gaiters you're feet will stay dry 99% of the time! Amazing boots and I will be buying another pair soon to replace these when they finally give it up. I would recommend these boots to anyone who does at least a moderate amount of backpack hunting. I have carried loads of 100+ lbs 15+ miles with these boots with relative comfort. I say relative comfort because honestly how comfortable can a guy be while carrying an entire camp, food, clothing, and a grizzly hide for that far? Great boot for high country mule deer, elk, sheep of any sort or goat if you don't need crampons although you could use them if need be.
