I'm brand new to hunting and liked the look and price point of this pack. I brought it out for a CO rifle elk tag this October, and was lucky enough to harvest a younger (2ish years old) cow. To start, the bag has plenty of room to do a few night backpacking, it rides comfortably, and has a bunch of storage and setup options. The straps on it are quite long and seem a bit in the way at first, but they allow the bag to expand enough to carry 2 elk quarters. That said, with my extra clothing, water, rifle, and meat loaded up, it quickly became too much weight as it sits quite far from your back. The weight did rest pretty squarely on my hips so I can complain there. I stashed a quarter for another trip with the frame/hauler and it was much more comfortable, but still pulled me back quite a bit.
The big bag has a roughly half zip clam shell opening, no brain. What it lacks in a top lid it makes up for with a detachable small bag. My only complaint here is that the top folds over towards the user, making an annoying flap of material if its not fully loaded. Not a deal breaker.
Overall I would recommend this pack. The large pack, the smaller pack, meat hauler, and weapon scabbard allow a lot of versatility as you can remove whatever bag you don't want. I believe that day hunts is where this will excel because as the gear loads up, the further from your back the weight is and the difficulty begins. Seems extremely durable and it was easy to clean. This pack is well worth the money and you get what you're paying for and then some.
