Millimeters matter

I switched out both my lineman's belt and my tether ropes to this 8mm sized rope. It has lighted my load a tad, but the big improvement is the packability of this sized rope. The thicker ropes requires two hands to stuff them into your pouch. These ropes I just ball up in my hand and put in my pouch, with room to spare. I like this rope so much that next year I plan on getting the 30' rope pouch and repel down from my climbing height.

I ditched the prusik cord years ago and have been using a ropeman 1. That is the downside to this thinner DynaLight rope. You have to use a Kong Duck (or similar device) instead of the ropeman 1. That's not a huge deal, it still gives you that nice one handed operation, but it's an added expense. This is due to the thinner diameter of the rope, the ropeman 1 is out of spec, therefore not safe to use. Be aware also that if you choose to use a Kong Duck you will also have to use an oval shaped carabiner because a normal shaped carabiner will not get into the correct axis of the carabiner. That just means that the Kong Duck will not get into the corner of a regular shaped carabiner, so you need a oval shaped one to make it work.
So after changing out my rope, carabiner and ascending device (Kong Duck)... Do I still recommend this rope? Absolutely! Just know it will cost you some extra money. You could still use the prusik and carabiner that the tether and lineman's ropes comes with to save some money, though. Just after going to mechanical type prusik device, I would never go back to using a two-handed prusik knot operation.
