First thing I noticed out of the box about the Wolf Northwest SS/Black .50 Cal. from BPI Outdoors were the tight tolerances and balanced feel. Looking down the barrel, the fiber-optic sights stand out, making them easy to line up on the target. On the initial range day, I had to experiment with various-sized powder charges and finally came up with a powder charge that consistently shot 2-inch groups (5 shots in a group) at 50 yards. Since we can't use scopes in the Pacific Northwest, there is really no way to do much better than that using the factory sights. The front-sight fiber bead is about 2 inches at 50 yards, more than adequate to quickly drop game, especially with a 295-grain Power Belt. Where we hunt, 50 yards is the maximum shot we can take. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase, it's a fun gun to shoot.
