After many years of searching and trying other known brands of boots I was becoming desperate. Over the years of walking I developed issues with my ankles. These issues were becoming serious in that I was not able to easily walk on uneven ground. In my line of work that is a deal breaker. I can't tell you how many lesser quality brands of boots I've tried. Each one I had to wear long enough to break them in to determine if they would suit my needs. Each one failed. After Kenetrek joined Guidefitter I called their customer service. They we nothing short of amazing. I explained my issues and concerns in detail and asked for recommendations. The customer service rep asked several questions about what I needed and the type of work I do. We spent well over an hour discussing pros and cons of each of their offerings.
I had other business in the Bozeman, MT area so I stopped in to their outlet store. As luck would have it the same person I spoke to on the phone was the person helping me in the store. He knew my story and remembered the details. I tried on several different styles and sizes until I found the perfect fit. Then he showed me several different ways to lace up my boots. I learned how to use the laces to pull my heel back into the cup of the boot. Wow, what a difference!
I purchased a pair of Non-Insulated Mountain Guide boots through Guidefitter. I went with these as I have many trips booked in the warm months of September through the end of October where an insulated boot would be to much.
I wore these boots last year on an 8 day Elk bow hunting trip in The Big Sky area of Montana last year. We were on horse back and walking every day in very warm weather and eventually 8" of snow. These boots performed perfectly, kept my feet dry and my ankles perfectly supported.
I primarily guide upland bird hunts, these boots work great for this as well.
Keep in mind these boots will take longer to break in than any other boot I have ever owned, but it's well worth it.
I use only the approved dressing and wear my Kenetrek Gaiters when needed.
Trust me, it's time to step up and pay a little more for the quality. It's very much worth it.
