I researched several eBikes for whitetail hunting and settled on the Storm. I needed something that was able to move a bigger guy like myself (250 lbs). I am 52 years old and have had 5 hip replacement surgeries. I still get around okay and can't see myself giving up hunting so this seemed like a good way to minimize wear and tear on the hardware. Also, I'm thinking I will drop less scent on my walks in to the stand. I hunt smaller private properties so driving up can ruin a hunt before it starts.
The bike:
The rear shock makes the ride pretty comfortable. It is adjustable on the move and can switch from full shock to a hard tail bike with the flip of a lever.
One thing that really stood out was that it senses how much effort you are putting forth and the assist increases with an increase in effort. Or, you can push the throttle and not pedal at all but your battery life will go way down.
I have had an issue with the bike, however. The large battery I purchased with it would not stay seated in rough terrain. I have been dealing with customer service and they have been great. Come to find out, there is a strap that I probably threw out with the packaging that helps secure the battery in place. I did go through the instructions, but do not recall the instructions mentioning the strap. Probably because I don't read instructions very thoroughly. We worked on the problem for a while and I am returning the larger 21mAh battery and am going to two 19.2mAh batteries. Overall, this will give me more juice than the single, larger battery would anyway. Probably if I had just read the instructions and knew about the strap, the extra cost of the battery would not have been necessary.
The bike makes a whine that you notice when riding, but I've ridden up on others and they did not notice it. I've seen videos of guys riding up on deer unnoticed so I don't think it will be a big issue.
I added the saddle bags to carry gear and the spare battery. I have yet to don my full kit and ride to a hunting property with backpack and bow, but I do not see it being a problem.
The Storm is a sweet bike that has been able to carry me up fairly sharp inclines with little issue. There are a ton of features that I have not mentioned. It is expensive, but in my case it was worth the investment to keep me in the woods. If you're looking for an eBike, give this one your consideration.
