This Maven RF.1 Rangefinder just feels like a quality piece of gear. It has a heft that makes it feel like you don't have a piece of junk in your hand. The red adjustable readout is quick and responsive, and you can see it under all kinds of lighting conditions and against any background. I never understood why some rangefinders have a black or gray readout.... it absolutely makes no sense for hunters. Was glad when I put the battery in and fired it up and I saw the beautiful red range. The other thing I really like about this rangefinder is the battery cover. I've had others where there are two different sized notches that you have to fit correctly to get it to snug down on the battery. Not a good situation in lower light conditions and you could strip the cover if you weren't careful. Not so with the Maven RF.1. The battery cover screws down in nicely and there's virtually no chance of slipping the threads on that cover. So far I've used it on my home bow range to sight in my compound for turkey season and it worked flawlessly. The only con to this I can see is its size. It is a larger rangefinder and I had to also upgrade my RF carry pouch but other than that, I really like the side adjustment knob rather than pushing the top button for brightness etc. So far I'm very pleased with this rangefinder and would recommend it based on its quality features alone.
