When I got into wilderness hunting for big game many years ago, my plan was to travel as light as possible because I was walking many miles a day. I wanted to carry the minimum amount of gear needed to accomplish the mission. What I've learned over the years is that certain pieces of gear are worth the weight of carrying them. Anyone who has glassed with binos for more than 10mins will tell you, it is very tiring on the eyes, neck, arms, and shoulders. Taking a suggestion from a friend, I bought the tall Trigger stick tripod. This model came with the screw plate adapter to mount an optic. I did not know it came with the adapter and ordered that separately, so now I have two of them. My intention is to use the tripod to glass with using binos and to use it as a shooting platform for my rifle. I messed up my order and actually ordered the crossbow model, but it will still hold a rifle. I have not used it to hunt yet, but first impression is that the tripod is huge. It only weighs 3.5lbs, but it is as long as my rifle. I did not realize the tripod would be that long, but thought it would break down shorter. I'm 5'9" and can easily shoot off it standing up. I do not like how long it is, as it makes it more difficult for a wilderness back packing hunt. The tall model gives me more options for use, I wish I had ordered the Short model and believe Primos would better serve their customers if they had an intermediate model as well. If you hunt in a wooded or thick environment and you carry this on a pack, you will most likely get hung up a lot due to its length. The tripod is exceptionally easy to use and adjust, making it ideal to use on rough and steep terrain for shooting or glassing.
