This is my first pad and I got it in preparation for an elk hunt this fall (2022). I have used it camping a couple times this summer so far, in combination with a cot. I have also slept on the ground with it once. This pad is very thick and the memory foam on top is extremely comfortable. Pairing this with a cot, or even on the ground, it is as comfortable as a hotel bed. I have read that air pads can be noisy but this one doesn't make any noise at all. It packs up a little smaller than a sleeping bag so maybe not the best for a backpacking adventure as it is a little heavier than a true air pad as well. I will be sacrificing weight in other areas, such as my tent, just to make sure I can take this pad though. Blowing it up is definitely a job. I didnt have a problem with it in northern MN, but I could see it at altitude being a problem. I would probably suggest a mini air pump. Also, the extra width that the extra large has is very nice, worth it in my opinion. I'd buy it again.
