Commander X Summer Test

Overall, the pack deserves a 10/10!

I took the pack to Medicine Bow, Wyoming for a short, overnighter summer test run to get a feel for the pack before hunting this fall. At first, it was a terrible experience. I had the pack riding low on my back, with the belt siting on the middle of my hips, not above as I soon discovered its proper position. Being used to backpacking packpacks, most are designed to ride on the middle of you hips (don't ask me why). So had to get used to the up high approach, but made a huge difference sense I was carrying 50ibs to test other products.

Everyone was saying, "the buckles are cheap." Well if you believe that, then you are one picky outfitter. The buckles worked great! No problems and easy buckle and unbuckle with one hand when needed.
The fabric and water resistant ripstop is wonderful because I did find out whoever put in the shock cord of the pack rain cover made the cord WAY to short and couldn't use it. The pack went through a downpour for 30 minutes and was soaked on the outside. However on the inside, everything was dry! That's some serious water coating.

Pros: everything!
Cons: if not used to hunting frames, play with it before hauling 50 ibs. Your back will thank you! And watch the fine detail for factory errors
