I upgraded my rangefinder recently from a SIG Sauer KILO1000. I expected the same claim for distance - my previous ones say 1200yards and I couldn't get over 350yards.
I purchased the Leica Rangemaster CRF 3500.COM and while hunting the end of July and early August in Yukon I was able to get 3196yards off a reflective rock. Most of the time I could get up to around 2900yards. They are light and the glass is great for a range finder. The combined weight of these plus my binos is still less than range finder binoculars, which makes a big difference on a 10 day backpack hunt.
They were especially useful in the huge open tundra, where a mountain looks to be half a mile away when it is triple that so planning a route is easier.
I don't think there is a better range finder on the market!
