I purchased the Tipton Felt Cleaning Pellets as an addition to using patches. They come in caliber select bags with a brass jag for that caliber. After cleaning my gun thoroughly, I like to run a couple of pellets through the barrel (from the breech end) and look for any left over debris. After I am satisfied with the barrel being clean, I will dampen a pellets with oil and send it down the barrel to protect it until I use it again. When the time came to use it, I will send two or three dry pellets down the barrel to clear any excess oil left over. I am happy with the results so far (and using the Tipton cleaning rods) the pellets follow the lands and grooves of the barrel to assure a clean barrel.
