In the past, I've always sat ladder stands over a feeder on private land. Now that the Air Force has moved me to Kansas, I started to hunt public land. I'm grateful this climber is lightweight enough that I can walk a mile with a weapon, hunting pack, and stand all on my back without getting to my tree feeling broken. I do, however, recommend practicing in your yard before trying to hunt with it as climbing is easy with it once you know what you are doing, but there is a learning curve. Don't do what i did and spook a buck at dawn during rut because you took too long to get into a tree.
Pros: the stand is light, easy to use, and comfortable.
Cons: you have to find just the right tree (straight, tall, no branches), you have to hunt by yourself, and you have to show up extra early because it's not a quiet process.
As far as climbers go, it's the only one I've ever owned so I can't compare it to others, but i will say if you choose to hunt this way make sure you know exactly what tree you're going to sit before you walk out into the woods with this on your back.
I highly recommend this stand for its lightweight, durability and ergonomic design.
