I used these as my primarily sock on a late season archery mule deer hunt in 2022. This was a 12 day sock and I wore this sock 4 of those 12 days (same pair all 4 days). The days I used this sock the temps ranged from -5°F to about 18°F. I put on many miles in these puppies and had zero issues. About ¼ of the miles were without boots stalking in close to muleys. During the mornings I did have a foot warmer stuck to the top of my toes to help out with the subzero temps. I'd wear this sock in a boot without any question on days with highs topping out around 45-50°F. Once the temps get hotter than that I'd switch.
The fit was amazing as it was with the lightweight version. Super comfortable with good elastic support in all the right spots. Good padding and good breathability when it's needed.
The Nylon/Merino blend is my favorite blend in a sock. This makes them super durable (I put on miles in these without boots!). The blend also makes them to be worn multiple days without getting too stinky. I didn't have any issues with blisters and my feet felt great at the end of each day.
I've had several pairs of Darn Tough socks over the years and they have always lived up to their name. I highly recommend this sock if you are looking for a well-made heavyweight wool hunting sock.
