I bought the techlite glass copper mirror polarchromic lenses. They adjust to light, and give you a more proper light adjustment when on the water. Being in Colorado, fishing mostly small tailwater streams on the front range, weather conditions vary enough that I have been so satisfied with the polarchromic lenses!
These sunglasses are the bee's knees. Excellent piece of equipment to have with you on the water! These are as advertised, and the most significant notable mention for me is that these sunglasses are so good in all light conditions, they actually help reduce the glare right before sunset on the river when it's normally too dark for regular polarized sunglasses to be helpful. I've found I actually preferred to wear these in a daytime snowstorm to help reduce glare (thanks polarchromic lenses). X-ray vision supposedly wasn't attainable…. I would have to disagree!
The fit and feel of these sunglasses are a bit weird for me, but nothing you can't get used to. I do appreciate the full coverage these sunglasses provide, so I can compromise on the fit and feel a little. I've found the nose pads aren't as grippy as Smith states (I also have a very greasy nose), and I frequently have to push them up after long days wearing them on the water. The glass is durable & scratch resistant (darn near unscratchable if you read on to my warranty update). Plastic on the frames are quality. I have dropped them more than a few times, and they have held up well. I prefer to wear them with the retainers.
I cannot speak to the chromapop lens technology, or any of their lens color combinations, as I've only ever used the techlite glass which has served it's purpose for me (Would probably go for the blue mirrored lenses if I lived off the ocean).
I wasn't previously an expensive sunglasses kinda guy, but this pair has changed me on that. You care for what is valuable and purposeful in life.
Tight lines!
UPDATE: I've recently made a warranty claim for a broken retainer, and they replaced the whole sunglasses with a voucher code for the full value of the style I chose. A part of their warranty claim process is destroying your lenses with an "X" scratched into both lenses, and they were IMPOSSIBLE to deeply scratch.... Sure, I could see the marks I was making FAINTLY, but no deep scratches, and when I put them back on I couldn't even notice they were scratched while wearing them. Indestructible glass. Super easy working with Smith warranty. Great product.
