West Texas Sandhill Crane Hunting

Grey Walmart sacks and wooden dowel rods. That is where it all started for me many years ago. I grew up in a family of quail hunters and use to always see these big grey birds in ag fields when we were driving around quail hunting. I did what little bit of research you could do on a computer back then for gear and found some decoys and other gear but they were way out of my budget. That's when it occurred to me that grocery sacks and dowel rods just might work. Long story short, they worked pretty well and I was hooked. The days of sitting in a burlap feed sack, not being able to feel your feet under a tumbleweed have since changed and have gotten way better. I am in the field guiding nearly every day and my gear is essential to me. We are extremely blessed to have the amazing gear we have now, and I want to share what I use with you. Below you will find a list of what I use day in and day out to be successful during the season.
