• There is a chill in the air as your eyes open to the still darkness of a high mountain Montana morning. A loud shrill blasts mere yards from your tent, followed by another and another. The hunt is on.
A Stockton Outfitters' archery hunt is just the ticket for an adrenaline addict. The reveille of bugling Bulls signals the beginning of archery season. Our guides, all excellent callers, specialize in guiding archers to trophy bulls. We take more than our share of "Pope and Young Record" Animals every year. Our elk are renowned for their superior genetics and the majesty of their racks. The biggest recorded bull taken from our camp scored a massive 419 gross.
A Stockton Bow Hunt is guaranteed to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, as your guide will use an array of calls to bring your trophy screaming toward you. With Big Bulls whistling from 10 to 30 yards, your opportunity for success is uncommonly high. Over 80% of our hunters get a good shot at an elk.

• It's been a long grueling hike to get back into the timbered ridge where you spotted that trophy bull. You've seen the elk's bed in the meadow and you know that's where he laid up to chew his cud. About now, with the first bit of sunlight starting to stream through the trees, you know he's made his way back into the heavy timber somewhere near a third the way from the top of the ridge. And you know he'll have found a bump of some sort to bed down, watching his back trail.
The ultimate game of chess has commenced in the dark timber on the bull's home court.
Our Wise River base camp is nestled in the heart of the elk's wintering range, and let's us get close to our quarry by 4 WD and two feet. Our Rifle hunts are conducted from tent camps when the weather permits, but move to the warmth and comfort of the lodge as the heavy snows in the high country move the elk down to lower ground. Our lodge-based hunts combine the mobility and the flexibility to hunt the entirety of our permit areas.

Our Bob Marshall hunting camp is located at Hahn Creek north of Ovando, Montana. This area offers unique opportunities for both bugling bull elk early in the year, as well as late season bulls coming down for winter. This is one of the few areas in Montana, or anywhere for that matter, where hunters have the opportunity to hunt elk with a rifle during the rut. The Bob Marshall complex also home to some big bucks, including mule deer and whitetail.

• Our southwest Montana hunts take place in and around the Absaroka-Beartooth Mountains. This area provides excellent hunts for bull elk, late-season cow elk, bighorn sheep, spring black bear and mountain lion. It isn't as famous as the Bob Marshall Wilderness, but we believe it offers some of the best and even most underrated hunting in the state of Montana. Big bull elk, and lots of them make this one of Montana's best elk hunting areas.
These hunts may be conducted from a lodge, cabin, base camp or spike camps and can be customized based on the individual needs of each client or group. We use horse and mule power to access remote areas and the best hunting opportunities. As with all our other hunts, we use our own stock and can provide horses for riders of any ability level.

Approximately 50% of the elk harvest in the state of Montana comes from region 3. We can accommodate a very limited number of trophy elk hunters each year to provide a quality hunt. We offer a combo hunt for elk which includes a mule deer or whitetail deer hunt. This will allow you to harvest a trophy whitetail or trophy mule deer in addition to the elk. This way, we can also offer you some the finest trophy whitetail deer hunting and trophy mule deer hunting available in the country during your trophy elk hunt. Our elk hunting is done on semi-rugged to moderately rolling terrain. Success often depends on the conditioning of the hunter. For elk hunters, we have access to private land in one of the best hunting regions in the state of Montana . Generally we can access most areas by 4 x 4 vehicle and then walk by foot to get into areas to glass for elk. We are there to assist you in the calling, harvesting, and removal of an elk or any other helpful suggestions you need in order to make your hunt more successful. Elk hunting can be challenging, frustrating, and exhilerating all at the same time. Elk can travel long distances and can be very unpredictable at times. We cannot guarantee anyone an elk, but will try to do everything we can in order to help you harvest your trophy bull elk, and encourage the harvest of cow elk to maintain a balanced, healthy elk herd. You have the option to use the spot and stalk method or calling, which is best in late September, or a combination of both--whatever you prefer. This can be an enjoyable time afield with a buddy while also having the chance to harvest a trophy whitetail or trophy mule deer here in Montana during your elk hunting adventure.
