Stratton • In 2016 I secured my first lease of 9000 acres and set 10 bait sites. We had a successful season with all 5 of my hunters seeing bear. Two of them harvested and 1 miss while the others only saw sows with cubs. Last year had its challenges with tons of mast for the bears, the beach nuts fell the weekend bear season opened. This changed patterns and made for some tough hunting for many and was also one of my most challenging seasons. My lease is now around 17500 total continuous acres. I will again be relocating several sites to spread them out a bit more to reduce the chances of bears moving from site to site. As usual, I will also be making new sites in areas that were logged. This should work out to 14-17 total sites. Based on these numbers I hope to have around 7 hunters but could take 8. Ultimately, I would have 3 hunters week 1, 2 during week 2 and 2 week 3 as I feel you would get the best experience. However two groups of 3 would be great as well. Our hunters will have 2 bait sites to hunt. You have your choice of a tree stand or blind at 2 sites. Some sites may have a blind and a stand at them this year. Generally, people do a treestand on one and a ground blind at the other. Dates: WK 1- 8/28 - 9/2 WK 2- 9/4 - 9/9 WK 3- 9/11 - 9/16

Alaska • 8-day Alaska Grizzly Stalk & Hunt in the interior of Alaska. Hunt is conducted in the high-country. We are perusing bears that are chasing Sows in the alpine country during breeding season. Client typically sees between 1 and 5 bears during the hunt. The average bear harvested is between 7 and 8.6ft. This area has a lot of color phase bears. We have seen and harvested bears that were Brown, Reddish Brown, Black, Blonde, White and Toklat.

Bears range in size from 200 pound juveniles to mature adults over 400 pounds, in a variety of color phases, including black, chocolate, cinnamon, blond, and a mixture of all. We pursue these bruins using ground blinds over carcasses, very smelly but also very productive, and calling, the most exciting - as well as the most dangerous. Becoming the bait yourself is an experience like no other. When he comes in you won't have a clue he's there, until he's right there. Up close and personal, he'll be close enough to smell his breath, and you will..... The only thing predictable about a black bear is that they are unpredictable. Most will avoid humans at all cost, but some have no fear. Caution and respect should always be exercised.
