New Mexico • We hunt mule deer on a ranch that I lease in the central part of New Mexico. Our success rate is excellent; all hunts have been 100%. Since this hunt is on private land, the license is guaranteed. Most of my archery elk hunts are done on public land in the Gila National Forest in Southwestern New Mexico. The Gila National Forest encompasses more than 3 million acres and it is extremely wild and remote. Therefore, it has the potential to produce 400 B & C class bulls. We hunt in units 16b and 16c. I have hunted these units for twenty two years and I know them well. The antelope hunts are on ranches in Northeastern New Mexico. We purchase landowner permits, so you are guaranteed a license. The success rate for these hunts is almost always 100%. Northern New Mexico has some of the best Merriams Turkey hunting to be found. The ranches that I hunt in New Mexico are unsurpassed in quality.

It is a grand and majestic creature, whose magnificent presence and autumn bugles are a constant reality here on the Quinlan Ranch. Six to seven thousand wild elk migrate through the Quinlan Ranch each year. This makes for great hunting every week of the hunt season. Irwin • We are permitted to hunt ducks and geese (waterfowl) on the south border of Palisades Reservoir, and on forest service and BLM ground along the river bottom. This 36 miles of river ranges from the Palisades Dam downstream through the Canyon to Clark's Hill. One piece of advice for the hunter planning his/her trip. In past years, changes in number of birds migrating have prompted the adjustment of opening and closing dates for waterfowl hunting. We absolutely feel it behooves you to give the Lodge a call or email in late July or early August. By then we should know the exact dates for this exciting experience. The primary waterfowl species include mallards and Canadian geese; however, you may encounter pintail, widgeon, and teal.
