• It's been a long grueling hike to get back into the timbered ridge where you spotted that trophy bull. You've seen the elk's bed in the meadow and you know that's where he laid up to chew his cud. About now, with the first bit of sunlight starting to stream through the trees, you know he's made his way back into the heavy timber somewhere near a third the way from the top of the ridge. And you know he'll have found a bump of some sort to bed down, watching his back trail.

Our Wise River base camp is nestled in the heart of the elk's wintering range, and let's us get close to our quarry by 4 WD and two feet. Our Rifle hunts are conducted from tent camps when the weather permits, but move to the warmth and comfort of the lodge as the heavy snows in the high country move the elk down to lower ground. Our lodge-based hunts combine the mobility and the flexibility to hunt the entirety of our permit areas.

• Our hunts here at Sizzlin S Outfitters are 5 days. The price includes meals, lodging and guides. These hunts are 2x1 unless you request a 1x1 and with that comes an extra charge of $500.
A typical day starts out with a light breakfast and a cup of coffee. We then load up in suburbans and head to our hunting spot for the day. We enjoy a lunch out of the cooler at noon and continue hunting. In the evening when we return to the house, you may enjoy a cocktail and kick your feet up for a little R&R prior to dinner. Dinner consists of hearty portions of home cooked meals and conversation about the days hunt. After dinner activities include watching the game on satellite TV or just relaxing and visiting.
Our accommodations consist of an older ranch house complete with a hot shower, great heat, comfortable beds, great atmosphere and friendly conversation. Everyone shows up as a client and leaves as a friend!!

• Trophy Whitetail Deer & Black Bear Hunting - The New York State Firearms season for deer kicks off the 3rd Saturday in November each year. We will run our hunts as 5 days hunts, alternating camps to ensure minimal pressure on the herd, to ensure you have the best opportunity at a great whitetail.
Note: Even though Steuben County allows the use of rifles during the firearms season, in an effort to minimize pressure and maximize safety on a property layout that most hunters don't know, we only allow the use of Shotgun and Muzzleloader during the firearms season.
We have a 3rd camp in Greenwood, NY which consists of 300 acres. This property is available for DIY Style Hunts only & rifles are allowed. Please inquire for more details if this is more of your hunting style.

• Trophy Whitetail Bow Hunting - Archery Season in the Southern Tier of New York is a blast. It runs from from October 1st until the Friday before the gun opener (3rd Saturday in November). This gives you ample opportunity at catching deer in the early season on food sources, during the pre-rut scent checking does, or during the chasing/seeking phases of the rut, before the gun season kicks off.
Our bowhunters enjoy a beautiful setting in the hills of Steuben County and and exciting hunt, with our property receiving little-to-no pressure. We are a fair chase/no high fence hunting ranch.

We offer Apprentice Hunting Opportunities one on one with your guide. Apprentice hunters must remain supervised and instructed at all times while hunting, personal instructions for the new or inexperienced hunters. • We have one of the BEST Aoudad ranches in the country! These are free-roaming sheep that live in the Chinati Mountains of West Texas. We take 25 hunters a year on this hunt and enjoy a 100% success rate on big rams. It is not uncommon to see over 150 head of sheep on a hunt and look over 10-50 rams. We use a side by side atv to get around and we have the best in optics to spot and judge rams. You can also combine a Desert Mule Deer and a Javelina along with varmints. BIG COUNTRY and BIG RAMS!
